DOCTRINAL STATEMENT

Section 1: The Godhead

We believe in the only true and living God. He is infinite, eternal, unchangeable, existing in three persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19

Section 2: The Scriptures

We believe the Bible, Old and New Testaments, to be the verbally inspired, infallible, authoritative Word of God for all matters of faith and practice. Along with Creation and fully manifest in Jesus, God graciously reveals Himself to us.

Psalm 19:1; John 1:18; 2 Timothy 3:16; Hebrews 1:1-2

Section 3: Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death through His shed blood, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His present life there as High Priest and Advocate, and in His personal and imminent return.

Isaiah 53:4-6; Luke 1:26-35; John 1:1; 1 Corinthians 15:3-8; Colossians 1:15

Section 4: The Holy Spirit

We believe in the personality and deity of the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Holy Trinity. We believe in the Holy Spirit’s indwelling of all believers and in the infilling of the Holy Spirit for the child of God who yields himself through faith in, and obedience to, His will.

John 14:26; Galatians 5:22-23; Ephesians 1:13, 5:18

Section 5: Humanity

We believe that God originally created man in His own image and free from sin; but through the temptation of Satan, man broke the command of God and fell. Thus, people are born into sin and rebel against God in thought, word, and deed. In their depravity they are unwilling and unable to turn to God and are deserving of eternal condemnation apart from His grace.

Genesis 1:27, 3:17-19; Romans 3:10-23; Ephesians 2:1-3; Revelation 20:11-15

Section 6: Salvation

We believe that salvation is based wholly upon the grace of God, purchased by Christ on the cross, and received through faith – apart from any virtue or work of man. Salvation consists of the satisfaction of divine justice, the forgiveness of sins and reconciliation with God, the imputed righteousness of Jesus Christ, and the gift of eternal life with every spiritual blessing. The Lord never loses any who have been purchased by the blood of Jesus, and His salvation is an eternal and irrevocable gift for His children. This grace not only forgives, but also transforms, causing the believer to grow in the grace and truth of Christ.

John 3:16; Romans 8:37-39; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Ephesians 2:8-10; 1 John 2:29

Section 7: The Church

We believe that all who have placed their faith in Christ are united together immediately by the Holy Spirit in the spiritual body, the Church, of which Christ is the head. Believers are all given unique gifts by the Spirit to carry out the mission of the Church – to make disciples of all nations. This mission is carried out primarily through the gathered local assemblies of Christians throughout the ages and around the world. As they gather, they obey Christ and portray the gospel through the ordinances of baptism by immersion and the Lord’s Supper.

Matthew 28:18-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26; Ephesians 5:25-27; Hebrews 10:19-25; Revelation 5:9
